Since 2014, Pioneer and Permian Basin law enforcement officials have partnered to host the Bustin' for Badges clay shoot tournament in Stanton, Texas. The annual event draws more than 400 participants to Windwalker Farms Clay Shoots for a day of friendly competition, good food and memorable comradery with local officers.
Proceeds benefit four West Texas law enforcement agencies to assist with equipment, training and other department needs, but these officers have to work for it.
Representatives from the Midland and Odessa police departments and the Ector County and Midland sheriff departments go door-to-door of local businesses promoting event participation and sponsorship opportunities. Community members continue to respond with enthusiasm and generosity, embracing the chance to get to know the men and women behind the badge. More than $200,000 has been raised to date.
