Vice President, Health, Safety and Environmental
Tom Sheffield is Vice President of Health, Safety and Environment for Pioneer Natural Resources with responsibility over the Environmental, Sustainable Development and Safety teams.
In 1988, Sheffield joined Pioneer’s predecessor, Parker & Parsley, holding various positions in field production operations. Beginning in 1992, Sheffield worked as an exploitation and exploration geologist in various basins throughout North America. In 2002, Sheffield joined Pioneer’s business development team, where he was involved in various acquisition targets and evaluations, including the Evergreen merger in 2004.
Sheffield was appointed Pioneer’s Raton Basin, Colorado, asset manager in 2004. In 2008, he was promoted to Vice President, Rockies Asset Team, and was eventually named Vice President, Western Asset Team.
Sheffield is a graduate of the University of Texas, Permian Basin, where he earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Geology.
During his tenure in Colorado, Tom served as a board member and chairman for both the Western Energy Alliance and the Colorado Oil and Gas Association. He is a member of the American Association for Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and is active in local charities.
